About International Pole Dance Day
International Pole Dance Day (September 30) is a global day where the pole community comes together to celebrate the art of pole dancing while supporting sex worker organizations.
Pole dancing as we know it today was shaped and developed in str1p clubs through the creativity, performance, and labor of s3x workers. Over time, pole has grown into a global movement practiced in studios, competitions, and performance spaces around the world, but its roots remain an important part of its history.
International Pole Dance Day creates space for the pole community to acknowledge that history while taking collective action in the present. On and around September 30, pole dancers, instructors, and studios participate by hosting events, classes, and fundraisers that support s3x worker-led organizations.
Participation is open and flexible. Some studios host donation-based classes, others organize showcases or community events, and individuals may choose to donate or share information. The Vision
International Pole Dance Day is intended
to grow as a community-led tradition within the global pole industry.
The vision is for:
• studios around the world to host annual fundraisers
• pole dancers to share the history of the art form more openly
• the community to collectively raise funds for s3x worker organizations
• participation to grow year after year across countries and communities
Over time, the goal is for International Pole Dance Day to become
a widely recognized day within the pole community, one that is not owned by any single organization, but supported and carried forward by the community itself.

Pole dancing has evolved
into a diverse and global practice, but its connection to s3x workers is often overlooked or misunderstood.
International Pole Dance Day offers an opportunity to:
• recognize the origins of pole dancing
• support s3x worker-led organizations
• bring the pole community together around a shared purpose
By participating, the pole community can
both celebrate the art form and contribute to the wellbeing of the communities that helped shape it.
