This was our first time celebrating this day as an organization. We brought it back to life and have a road ahead of us to raise awareness. This was a last minute decision to do this event, but we will be ready early on next year.

Did you know International Pole Dance Day was originally created by a stripper/sex worker, but was denied official calendar recognition because of stigma and discrimination? We’ve decided it’s time to revive this day and remind the world where pole dancing comes from.
On September 30, 2025, we reclaimed International Pole Dance Day as a moment of solidarity between strippers, sex workers, and the broader pole dance community. This day is for everyone who pole dances — whether for work, art, fitness, or joy — and a chance to honor the roots of pole dance in strip clubs and sex work.
IMPACT
We worked with a total of 9 other sex worker organizations, activists and brands to raise awareness about this day.
East London Stripper Collective
YAS Work raised $310 in donations in celebration of this day.
Our main post on Instagram had over 55,000 views, 1,356 interactions, and reached almost 93% of new accounts and reached over 22,500 accounts with an audience demographic if almost 76% women.
We were viewed 43% in the US, over 15% in New Zealand, over 14% in the UK and over 9 % in Canada.
IN CLOSING
We intend on doing this event again next year with more orgs, activists and brands participating, including engaging with the pole dance community early on. The idea is to give pole studio owners and instructors time to put together fundraising events to give back to sex worker orgs and activists.
