YAS Work is a nonprofit organization led by and for sex workers. We educate the public, advocate for sex worker rights, and create platforms for sex workers to share their expertise across art, advocacy, and community building. Through our podcast, YAS Store, and digital advocacy campaigns, we highlight stories that challenge stigma and build collective power.

Internship Overview

We are seeking a motivated Grants & Communications Intern to join our team for a short-term, credit-based internship. This position is ideal for students interested in nonprofit management, advocacy, communications, and fundraising. Interns will gain hands-on experience in grant writing, social media management, and digital content support.

You’ll work directly with our leadership team, receiving mentorship and guidance throughout the internship.  This would be a remote position.

What You’ll Do

  • Grant Research & Writing
    • Research potential funding opportunities.
    • Draft sections of grant proposals and reports.
    • Help build and maintain a grants tracking calendar.
  • Social Media & Communications
    • Draft and schedule posts across multiple platforms (Instagram, BlueSky, Mastodon).
    • Create Canva graphics and captions for campaigns and events.
    • Track engagement and prepare short analytics reports.
  • Podcast & Media Support
    • Research potential guests and draft prep documents.
    • Support promotion of podcast episodes (quotes, audiograms, blurbs).
  • Special Projects
    • Assist with digital archiving and resource organization.
    • Complete one capstone project (e.g., draft a full grant proposal, design a mini campaign, or prepare a donor prospect report).

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student (communications, nonprofit studies, social sciences, or related field).
  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, BlueSky, Mastodon).
  • Interest in sex worker advocacy, social justice, or community organizing.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely.

Details

  • Type: Unpaid / for academic credit.
  • Schedule: 8–10 hours per week, flexible scheduling.
  • Duration: 10–12 weeks (start/end dates flexible).
  • Location: Remote, with weekly check-ins via Google Meet.
