Panels & Trainings: Centering Sex Worker Leadership Through Education

Overview

In the second half of 2025, YAS Work will launched a dynamic new program of live online panels and community trainings led by sex workers. These virtual events will together voices from across the sex industry to discuss urgent issues, share strategies, and educate both sex worker communities and the general public.

 

Program Structure

Our panels will begin with collaborative conversations featuring sex worker organizations on the YAS Podcast platform and will expand to include:

  • Issue-based panels (e.g., legal reform, digital discrimination, community safety)

  • Regionally focused discussions highlighting the lived experiences of sex workers in different parts of the world

  • Trainings for sex workers and allies on topics like:

    • Combating digital discrimination

    • Media literacy & interview skills

    • Advocacy strategies & organizing know-how

  • Public education panels on:

    • How to act in a strip club (club etiquette 101)

    • Understanding sex work–related ballot measures and legislation

All sessions will be designed, led, and moderated by sex workers, centering those with direct lived experience and expertise. Our aim is to cultivate safety, accuracy, and connection across multiple communities.

Upcoming Highlight

In September 2026, we will host a screening and panel featuring "Monster Slayer". After being assaulted in a nightclub, Monty takes action of her own when she realizes that no one is listening to her. With a spectacular, she defies her attacker and fights against prejudice towards sex workers.

Purpose and Impact

  • Empower sex workers with tools to navigate media, policy, and public interactions

  • Educate the public on the realities of sex work and dismantle harmful stereotypes

  • Shift narratives around sex work toward dignity, labor rights, and informed advocacy

  • Create space for cross-community collaboration and mutual support

Impact Measurement


Our first annual impact report will be published in January 2026, capturing data on attendance, community feedback, and long-term reach. It will include insights from participants and highlight areas for future growth.
